Intel 3200 USB External Modem
Device Installation
The Intel USB modem requires a free USB port on your computer. Plug the modem into your computer's USB port once the computer is turned on.

Software Setup
The first time your USB modem is plugged in, you will need the setup CD-Rom that came from Qwest. It should be in the same package as modem.
  1. Your computer will prompt you to install the drivers, which will be found on the CD. The CD does NOT contain drivers for Windows XP.
Click here for Windows XP Instructions.
  2. Once the drivers are found and installed, the setup process will begin. It will ask a series of questions. The answers can be found below
    • Connection type: PPPoA
    • VPI , VCI: 0, 32
    • Username/Password: These are found on your SMIG ISP worksheet.
  3. The SMIG technical support phone number is entered next. 866-438-7644.
  4. IP addressing is dynamic on our system. (Static IP addresses can be assigned by request. An additional charge applies)
  5. DNS servers are dynamically assigned.
  6. After the information has been entered, the setup process will perform 2 tests. The first test will test the integrity/functionality of the line. The second test will test the connection to SMIG across the DSL line.
Please Note: If the first test fails, the Qwest DSL line is not yet working properly. If the second test fails, please contact us.
  7. The software installatin is now completed. Click finish, and now there should be a new icon on your desktop called "Qwest DSL services". To connect to DSL, double click that icon and press connect.

TCP/IP Setup
When using the Intel DSL modem, you must connect using the icon described above. Once connected, your computer will have received its IP address from our server.

Intel USB DSL modems are not designed to be "shared" or integrated into an existing network. Although it is possible, we do not support "sharing" of the Intel USB DSL modems.
